Tips
Tip 1:
From face-to-face to face-to-screen. This is what many of us are going through now. Working at home or receiving education at home is a new experience for many people. Moreover, the reason why we go virtual is a special one and that can cause double stress.
I am used to working, learning and meeting virtually. I was lucky to be able to learn that via the company where I worked for years ago. When you see each other through a screen it is easy to go "in the box" because you do not pick up the non-verbal signals well. Ignoring or misunderstanding someone is easily done. And don't ask any questions because you don't want to be seen as stupid is understandable. The following tips help to interact virtually out of curiosity, in real connection and as a person.
Tip 1: do a "check in" before you start the virtual meeting. "What are you doing now, what should we talk about now?"
Tip 2: do not fill in for the other person, but remain curious and keep asking if you do not understand the question or the answer
Tip 3: Understand the reality of others, ask about their concerns, challenges, goals, and what you can do to help. This is the Outward Mindset tool "meet to learn".
